Can bentonite be used to fill subgrade?

Can bentonite be used to fill subgrade?

Answer:

Filling of expansive soil subgrade:The direct use of weak expansive soil embankment, should be timely protection of the slope and the top.The high speed, grade one and grade two, with medium expansive soil filling roadbed, should be mixed with lime modification. The high speed, a highway embankment, use expansive soil, immediately masonry revetment, road bed to stop, then can make 2% pavement cross slope of 30cm seal. The medium expansive soil filled with optimum water content can be used to fill the embankment, but the slope should be made of non expansive soil.
Local table treatment of expansive soil:High speed and grade a highway must be excavated at 30-60 1m below ground level. If the ground surface is moist soil, the soft soil layer must be dug and replaced, or the soil will be stabilized with lime.
Please note that expansive soil is divided into weak, medium and strong three, of which strong expansive soil can not be used for Subgrade filling. The other two are adapted to local conditions.
