I have an Advent 7113 laptop and it doesn't feature a built in memory card reader, however there is a space where it looks like one could fit. Can you buy card readers separately and fit them in your laptop? All my USB ports are broken and i want to upload photos. Thanks
it is possible cause of course computers and laptops are always able to get custom casing but it will be harder and more money if you build it in your laptop. if you fix 1 of your USB ports or have it fixed you would be better off!
waiting develop is a sparkling characteristic in homestead windows Vista which could fairly use detachable storage (mutually with a memory card or USB flash force) as added RAM. the assumption is this might develop overall performance via caching to the memory card fairly than to the no longer straightforward disk.
The slot is for expresscard 54 or 34 cards, from what I could find. So you need a memory card reader that reads the type of memory card you have that fits either the 34 or 54 size slot.
Although you don't have either a PCMCIA slot or a space for a built-in / optional cvardreader, You CAN add one in by re-routing the USB ports through nother add-on card slot on Your system. You have an ExpressCard slot on that system that will take optional devices that include a multiple USB port adapter, and will cost about $10-$25.00 online. I'd also recommend using a second multi-usb adapter / hub through the Expresscard adapter, but since the laptop isn;t a fully-powered desktop with over 320 watts output, it probably won;t run much more than a port or 2 at once unless You get a self-powered second hub. Good Luck!.
There is a space where it looks like one could fit. Good news - that is an ExpressCard 54 slot (according to the specs on your laptop model, linked below). You can buy a multi-card reader that will fit in that slot. I've linked one below. That is an ExpressCard 34 device but it will fit in your laptop (it leaves some space on one side). Another good option: You can buy a USB adapter that will fit in that slot. (second amazon link below) Now you have some working USB ports again. Then add a standard USB card reader. Maybe a little more expensive, but more versatile too. THere is a possible problem with this idea. It turns out that ExpressCard slots have USB ports inside them. An ExpressCard to USB adapter don't actually have a USB host controller in it; it just brings the USB ports to the outside. Similarly, all ExpressCard memory card readers are really USB memory card readers, using the internal USB ports. So whether or not this will work depends on what's wrong with your USB ports. If it's the master USB host controller on the motherboard that's gone wrong, then using your ExpressCard slot won't help, because that same USB host controller runs the internal USB ports in the ExpressCard slot. However if it's something else, like the internal USB hub, you have a good chance. The only way to know is to buy the cheapest ExpressCard-Memory Card reader you can find, put it in the slot and try it. (To the person who said you can't upgrade a laptop - of course you can, depending on the laptop. I've upgraded laptop CPUs, video cards, memory, display screens, and of course hard drives. In some cases you can add in or upgrade WiFi cards, bluetooth adapters, cellular modems, etc., mostly in internal Mini-PCI-E slots. Of course not all laptop have all of these things upgradeable, but some do.)
