My rabbit just recently had a very large amont of ticks on him. We later found out it ws because he escaped under some pine trees, but now im afraid to let him go outside at all. I don't feel like he could get ticks from our yard because he only had them once before and that was when we found him. Is there any way he can pick up ticks from being on cement?
NO they cannot.. They can only survive on living animals... Like humans, cats, dogs.. etc. (BTw pick me for best answer =} )

If the cement area is out of doors the answer is yes. But I would not think it would be in great numbers. Ticks live in wooded areas or grassy fields. If you have either near you they can migrate to your yard. Ticks do not jump or fly but can hitch a ride on any passing wild life. A squirrel coming through your yard can bring them in. I don't know where you are located but here in southern Illinois we havparticularlycularily bad season for both fleas and ticks. Google and read up on the proper method of removing embedded ticks.
Animals can pick up ticks wherever the ticks are at. A tick commonly will stay on an animal until they have fully gorged, and then fall off. That is why they can be most anywhere, it is a matter of where they fell off at. They really do prefer under pines, but can be found most anywhere since they are able to move on their own. For your rabbit, ask a vet about frontline or advantage treatment to keep him tick free. Good luck.
If your cement area is adjacent to a grassy area, ticks can move from the grass onto the cement, then get onto your rabbit. Although this is unlikely, it's still possible. Your rabbit is probably safe on the cement. When you bring him in, just check him over closely for ticks. You might also want to ask a veterinarian if there is a tick repellent suitable for rabbits. I have ticks on my property. I get bitten several times every summer.
