I have seen this segment on a show I like to watch where a New York fire department couldn't put out a fire. WHY the water from their hoses had turned the building into one huge iceberg. BUT the building was still burning. So I'm confused. Shouldn't the fire have melted the ice putting itself out? Shouldn't the water been too much to keep the fire burning? PLZ keep answers simple as possible.
ONE thing I didn't see mention here yet is that your unit may be hard wired (connected to the house power wiring) so if the circuit that supplies power is off (like a breaker tripped off or just shut off) then the smoke detector will sound the alarm or beep every few minutes. So this is another thing to consider and check out. If you're not sure, remove the unit from the wall or ceiling and see if there are wires attached or not. Good luck
