Question:

can you install linoleum over ceramic tile?

can you install linoleum over ceramic tile?

Answer:

Well . . . Long pause The previous owners of our house did that to our kitchen and breakfast area, and I could wring their necks for it!!! It looks ok for now, but sooner or later we will have to replace BOTH!!! What a pain that will be. The ceramic tile is plain, polished white (it's in my entryway 1/2 bath downstairs, too). The linoleum is very pretty textured shades of tan brown. So, for now it is not peeling or falling apart. The only way that we actually could tell is when we had our dishwasher replaced and found the ceramic tile underneath. I highly recommend that you NOT do this, as it will add to the hassle and expense of replacing both sometime in the future. However, it is possible with the right ceramic tile.
I wouldn't reccommend it, the limoleum will rip over the tile due to the gaps, not to mention that your surface will not be flat. Rip out the tile before you lay the linoleum.
no the linoleum would have to have a very flat surface underneath and tile has grout line that could gouge the linoleum or have it leveled and smooth then do the linoleum but make sure the tile is not lose or has cracks in it
