Question:

Car alarm's parking light flash.?

My car alarm's parking light flash use to flash when I arm it (1 flash) and disarm it (2 flashes). Now it does not flash anymore. The alarm still works, but it doesn't flash the parking lights(taillights, sideblinkers). Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it or what the problem is? Just throw out some suggestions and i'll give it a try and don't tell me to go to the place where they installed it. Thanks

Answer:

What you have attempted to build is a crude surge arrestor. It should be connected direct to the service ground, (all services have them), not a local ground. You can buy yourself all kinds of grief by doing that. The incident you cite may have been caused by inductance. Your device will have little effect on such events. If your home-made device is indoors, it is probably more of a hazzard then a lightning strike.
The reaction between soda and acid produces carbon dioxide that pressurizes the fire extinguisher. The rest is water. So you are spraying a conductive solution of water on a electrical fire which can cause even more fires as energized electrical wires and components ground out, making the problem worse.
