I am 14 years old and getting braces in 10th grade!!! Im getting braces in less than a week and i have the option to get ceramic braces or metal braces. They both cost the same amount of money! My orthodontist wants me to get the ceramic braces. So.what should i get !?!?!?
I'd go with metal because they work faster than the ceramics. And after a while the clear ceramic ones will get dirty and noticable. Plus, you can shave a few months off the amount of time you have to wear them and save money.
I say ceramics. I have ceramic uppers and metal lowers. The ceramic brackets themselves don't stain, it's the ligatures that hold the archwire in place that stains.and that depends on what you eat that'll cause the lig's to stain.such as curry, or lot's of coffee or tea, or ketchup, spaghetti sauce, etc.(these foods only stain clear lig's on some people if eaten excessively) My lig's have yet to stain, and I have clear ligatures. My ceramic brackets look great, and nobody even notices them. You can always go for colored ligs, or pale smoked colored lig's or powerchains for ceramics, which do not stain. Also, it is the archwire that moves the teeth, not the brackets, so one style of bracket isn't faster than the other, because brackets don't move the teeth, archwires do.
the cost for ceramic braces is around Rs 60,000 (indian rupees). the length of treatment depends on ur oral condition and the kind of care u take. one thing u have to keep in mind is ceramic braces are very delicate n u will have to take good care of them. all the best
i would get metal braces, because ceramic braces well in my opinion make your teeth look weird and even if they dont get noticed that much i would stick to original
