Answer:

He should be allowed to go on vacation and enjoy himself.. The punishment is too extreme . He has learned his lesson and by not letting him go on vacation or making him stay in a hotel room kind of is saying your not part of the family if you fail..While I think you need to make sure he learns his lesson and takes his schooling more seriously, excluding him from the family is the wrong way to do it.I would also suggest telling him this next school yr will be different and you will be staying on top of his grades and talking to his teachers more often so if he starts slacking you can bring in the punishment phase again..
As a teacher, first of all, I applaud you for caring so much about your son's grades. I wish that all of my students' parents would care so much. A 95% average in summer school is very strong. I would say that a high B is what could be expected. Since there is only one month left in the summer, I would say that you could probably at least partially unground him as a reward. Better yet: Make him sign an ungrounding contract. In exchange for his early freedom, he will agree to maintain at least a B average or it all comes back again.
if the rim wasn't set on the flange properly or there was some type of foreign obstruction between the rim and it's hub or rotor flange, the wheel could have been hastily tightened, and then when pressure knocked it loose, the subsequent lug nuts would also be loose. I myself always blame those things on the technician. The last guy who worked on it. I have personally seen an employee send a customers car, out of the garage with a loose rim. Mechanical failure, be it random or a technicians fault, is half of the intensity of motorsports. But if there were eleven lugs nuts loose, then that would point to something more serious, something more heinous. Something needs to be learned from this.
That's harsh, if i was in that situation as your kid, i would contemplate suicide. See, i'm 15, i failed math because it's hard for me, and i didn't go to summer school. I was barely grounded, and i know i'm going to do better next school year. Grounding me wouldn't teach me anything, it would make me upset and bitter. So i think you should unground him. Taking his door off isn't even a fitting punishment- that's just awful.
sorry, but your being a little bit harsh on him. i am 16, i study and i try and i came really close to failing earth science but i didnt. school really isnt easy and instead of grounding him maybe you could try getting him a tutor to help him. i definitley think you should un-ground him for the rest of the summer and let him enjoy it because soon school will start and theres another 10 months of torture for him. just tell him that you will let him go this time since he passed(with a really high grade too) but if it happens again next year make it last the whole summer. goodluck
