I have bought a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.Its not giving me any Hibernation or Stand by option.Whenever I close my laptop lid (even though its running on) , my laptop goes blank.I have to restart it all over again! Can anyone help me?
sounds like the power options are set to go to hibernate or sleep automatically when ever it lid closes. These options can be changed on the power option on the control panel, in this case you want to set it to do nothing when the lid closes.
Your laptop is working as designed. Go into the power management features in control panel and change the settings for what the laptop does when you close the lid. Beware that if you disable the standby or hibernation settings when you close the laptop and you forget and put the laptop into a carrying case while it is running, then you will very likely cook the laptop alive and it will fail.
