Question:

Did Amare actually think that Fire Extinguisher would take out the Heat?

I like Amare but the stupidity in that is on Kobrick's level. The Heat are burning white hot like a sun , nothing can put them out . The fire in Bron and D-Wades eyes will kill you. He probably did it to not face any further humiliation by the Heat. BQ: Save Boston , Trade Rajon Ronbrick is another Kobrick nut rider like Ben and Leo Laker.

Answer:

Just sit there and burn.
One could immerse oneself completely in a nearby body of water if there was one nearby (e.g. a swimming pool, lake, pond, ocean).
Put your hands in a large bowl or small bucket of warm water for a few minutes.
Stop, drop and roll if the best chance of extinguishing the fire. Never stay on your feet or run if you are on fire. This will fans the flames and, since heat rises, anything above the flames will also catch as well. In most cases everything above the ignition point will be alight within 20 seconds!! You actually don't have very long to extinguish even a small clothing fire before it becomes very serious. There comes a point where rolling just can't extinguish it because it's too intense, in which case you need either a) a body of water to submerge yourself into OR b) someone with a fire blanket. Without those. Basically, immediately stop, drop to the ground and roll over and over several times. Strange poem!
