did it . now driving it in to word the windshield wipers were very slow making me think it not charging. any ideas???? already cleaned posts. already put new battery.
DUH? OK. If you have a brand new battery and it's not charging, and If you're smarter than the people at Auto Zone who already told you what the problem is. what do YOU think is wrong with it?
Autozone have said you need a new alternator. YOU think it's not charging. Put these two statements together, and I think it's safe to assume that it needs a new alternator
The headlights in many cars will get a bit brighter when you rev the engine a bit, this shows that the charging system is working properly. Also you can measure the voltage across the battery with the engine off, then with the engine on, then rev it a bit. Engine off should be 12 or 12.5, engine on should be 13 or 13.5 at most.
