Question:

Do I need a new fire extinguisher?

I had a little fire in my toaster oven and used my &shop size& fire extinguisher to put it out. I just pulled the trigger for a split second and it was out. Just from that the gauge has gone from &full& to &empty&. Is this just a safety measure? How can it be empty when I only used a tiny squirt?I'm going to buy another one, since it's better to have two than nonebut my question is, can you use a fire extinguisher more than once?

Answer:

there are at least 3 grades of resin, fast, medium and slow. personally i use almost only the slow, and give it overnight to fully harden. i would suggest a slower curing resin. or a slight reduction in the amount of hardner used. COLD days, use extra, HOT days, use less. some danger in using extra, as it can increase the heat of the curing process to the point of starting a fire. but if you use too little, it just wont set up properly and you'll be stuck scraping it out.
use less hardner if working in the heat!
He has to provide a smoke detector, and in many areas also a carbon monoxide detector. In many large buildings there is a sprinkler system (the landlords put those in according to building code). If you want a fire extinguisher they are pretty cheap at Home Depot, etc. Also, keep in mind that if you see smoke or a fire, chances are better for you to get out and let the landlord deal with the impact of the fire. Just make sure you purchase renters insurance so your personal belongings are protected in the event of a fire.
