If you want small independent designers then look in their natural habitatPost a one page flyer in your local fabric, yarn, art, bead and craft storesAlso look for anywhere that's alt or hipster -like a coffee shop or smoothie bar or book store or whateverAsk to post your flyer thereYou don't find fish in a desert -so don't look there, look in a lakeSame with creative people: anyplace that creative people hang out is where you will find themAlso go a to places like Etsy and ArtFire and look for designers on these independent marketplaces who live in your home townContact themSome will be interested, some won'tSome things will be store-worthy, some won'tBe discriminating as far as quality is concerned and you should find a few worthy candidates.
Why not just wait until 4:30 when the sun is up and then you won't have to sneak out.
