Does military press hurt your rotator cuffs?

My shoulder has some pains in different locations and my massage therapist told me to not lift any weight above my shoulders including no more military press and she said that this is a bad exerise.I wanted to make sure.

Yes it can, but the military press isnt even necessary. There are a lot of exercises for your shoulders that dont involve lifting over your head. First if you do bench presses, your shoulders, especially the anterior or front shoulder muscles is getting worked. I hardly work my shoulders seperatley and they have continued to grow just from the work they get in conjunction with other body parts being used. However, you might want to try working the lateral delts, the side part of the shoulder, you can do this through raises.
