Discovered some vermiculite loose fill insulation. How can it be determined if it contains asbestos or not?
Call local nurseries. They usually have bulk compost. They may also carry vermiculite. Perlite would be a better choice though. Vermiculite has been linked as a direct cause of an asbestos type lung disease. The town around a vermiculite plant has had multiple deaths and illnesses linked to breathing the vermiculite dust, (I saw a PBS documentary on it).
Kate, Yahoo is your best choice to search. go to their homepage and type in garden centers and your city and state. lots of hits will come up. one of my Yahoo groups has members in your area and are familiar with chain stores and nurseries. even Walmart carries it. check out my PlantSwap group. i don't work for Yahoo, but i should. rick
