You seem to imply that the prosecutors that were fired were hold overs from Clinton. That is not the case. Most of the recent firings were prosecutors that were appointed by Bush during his house cleaning six years ago. The big deal is this: head prosecutors decide which cases to prosecute. There is an appearance that some of these prosecutors were fired for making decisions based on the rule of law rather than the rule of Rove. If that proves to be true, the firings are obstructions of justice and illegal.
I don't bother with wearing rubber gloves when using vinegar or baking soda unless it's on something that's really gross. But Borax and a lot of other cleaners tend to be caustic, so gloves are a must- especially if you have sensitivities to some chemicals.
If it's a normal, everyday SMOKE detector - the kind you buy at the store - No, it won't go off in the situation you described. I capitalized smoke above because that's what I assume you have. The term fire detector is a misnomer. There are smoke detectors and heat detectors - both of which are things found in association with fire - but there are no true fire detectors I really doubt that you have a heat detector. They're very uncommon in residential use. Even if you do have a heat detector, the heat of a lighter will not set it off - unless you do something like put the flame directly under or next to it and hold it there.
