I think that would depend on whether or not you're using some version of Asimov Laws of Robotics. By current standards, the robot would have to be programmed to respond automatically at the sound of the buzzer. If you're using Asimov's Three Laws, then the robot would have to recognize that the buzzer meant a potential threat to human beings. Under the First Law, the robot would then take the appropriate action to protect the people around it.
