Question:

Grout wall or floor first?

Do you grout wall tiles or floor tiles first for a tile shower and floor in a bathroom?

Answer:

walls then floor... would you wash a floor from the door to the furthest corner or from the furthest point back to the door?
I usually do the floor first but that's just because I set the floor first so it extends under the finished wall surface.
The difference between the 2 is this.Floor grout has sand in it & wall grout doesn't.And yes.You can use floor grout on the walls. In fact IMHO its the only way to go.Bc wall grout is very hard to work with bc of the lack of sand. And the finished product looks better too.
Grout Wall
It depends if its the same type of grout or different. If its all the same , sanded or unsanded, I start with the walls and grout my way out, cleaning the floors of the same excess grout as I go.If its 2 different grouts , I always do the un sanded 1st and scrape out the bucket well and then mix and use sanded gout,( must be the same color grouts doing it that way.. But should it be 2 different colors I always do the lighter one 1st and then clean and start fresh with new water etc. So theres a few variables as to which way you can do it, no right or real wrong just easier ways of doing it.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. GL
