Question:

Help with laptops built in sd card reader.?

i have a asus gaming series .model G1S.With vista running on it . The built in sd card reader doesn't work.it recognizes when i plugin the sd card (64 mb LEXAR media)but, it cannot read it.I think it needs some drivers.I tried looking but had no success in finding it.I tried calling them but the phone number was incorrect form their website.I also looked in their downloads but, no luck.I havent tried any other type of sd card. Can someone please help me locate the drivers i need for my laptop to read the sd card?

Answer:

keep looking for drivers, or check if it's disabled in the bios, from installing a new os.
Right SD and micro SD should all work fine (providing you have the mSD adapter). However some card readers are a little fussy with SDHCs, I've had at least 2 times when the computer just failed to recognise an SDHC card, to my huge irritation.
You shouldn't need to download new drivers for your built in card reader but on the safe side right click on My Computer properties. Now open the Hardware tab. Click on the Device Manager button. Scroll down the list until you find your card reader. If it has a yellow exclamation mark - follow the troubleshooting instructions. If no yellow exclamation mark it is likely to be fine. First of all try another SD card. wdw
