Question:

How did the Australian AC1 Tank end up with Hotchkiss style Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension system?

I may be wrong but I think the Sentinels suspension must of came from either, copying captured Vichy French R35 Tank suspension, French Tank designer R Perrier and others that escaped after the The Fall Of France. Using the American M3 Lee Tank‘s hull design makes me wonder why they didn‘t use the standard M3 and M4 Medium standard Vertical Volute Spring Suspension. What‘s strange is it‘s clearly a Hotchkiss style suspension but utilizing American volute springs. I believe they made a kind of either torsion bar or Christie style suspension. Cheers John.

Answer:

The AC1 did not copy the M3 hull, only final drive and gearbox, although that design had to be abandoned. According to Chamberlain the M3 VVS bogie was originally tested but the Hotchkiss type horizontal volute pattern were found superior.
i've got had various violations, and no suspension as of yet. i do no longer concepts if i do get suspended, reason i've got a spare yahoo account besides. i in simple terms use the e mail handle, reason the e mail handle related to this account is actual old and packed with junk mail.
