Question:

How do i change the oil on my car?

my car is a nissan sentra 1996. do i need a jack to lift my car, cuz all i have is a tire jack. also where does the oil go in? i know where the dipstick is to check my oil, but not where the actual oil is.

Answer:

DO NOT crawl under your car with a tire jack!!! That could be the last thing you ever do! Use a jack and jack stands or ramps. Test shake the car before you get under it. You also have to remove and replace your oil filter. Oil goes into the oil fill hole on the valve cover. The cap should twist off.
Plan to change your motor oil every 3,000 miles or every 3 months if you want to be on the safe side, but know that most cars no longer require an oil change after every 3,000 miles. You will not damage the engine by letting it run 4,000 miles in between oil changes. However, if you've been driving in very hot and/or dusty conditions you should stick to the 3,000 mile schedule, or even more frequent changes.
Changing oil is a breeze and anyone can do it. Not going to give you step by step instructions. Would take a long time. Check out youtube, how to change oil. I think video tutorial would be more helpful. Personally you are not really saving much money doing it yourself. You'll spend maybe about $60 for everything you need. Oil, oil filter, PCV valve (some cars have those some don't) and you'll need an oil catcher. If you do do it yourself, make sure someone is there with you to help. Hope it helps!
Homog. -- quartz, salt, water, nitrogen Heterog. -- iron ore, soft drink, milk
A pure substance is something where it is composed by only one thing. Example hydrogen gas. It's all hydrogen. A homogeneous mixture is something where it's all one substance but it's a mix of elements. Example water, H2O. It's hydrogen and oxygen. But since its all H2O its homogeneous. A heterogeneous mixture is something where two different things are mixed together. Example cereal and milk. They are both different things. So Tomato juice heterogeneous since there are bits of stuff in it. air homogeneous because it's not just one thing. iodine crystals umm not sure, if it only has one element in it, it's a pure substance if not it's a homogeneous mixture. sand same thing as the iodine crystals
