Answer:

I had the same problem a couple years ago. I had to replace the whole smoke detector. They don't last forever, ya know.
when u see lightning.. dont go near metal. dont go near trees. dont go in large empty fields. but still look out the window cuz its cool. when theres a thunderstorm.. look out the window. dont listen to the people on the news.. when they say dont go near windows theyre lying.. they look out windows themselves. when theres a blizzard.. go outside and throw snowballs at peoples houses. if it gets too cold or windy.. put more coats on. if theres lightning, thunderstorms, and blizzards all at once.. u should prolly stay inside. look out the window anyway. it looks cool. thank you and goodnight.
No, it isn't a professional job. There are some departments that have off duty firefighters, or retired firefighters take photos when they have scenes worth documenting. Generally they have a pager or radio and come from home. This is a rarity though. Most departments don't even allow this, but there are a few that do. In any case, they aren't going to let some random person do it, they don't even let the news crews get close to the scene. It has to be someone who knows the ins and outs of the service and works/worked as a a firefighter, knows what's safe, and what isn't, otherwise they would just get in the way and be a liability. They don't pay for it, no department has the money to pay for someone to sit around a station and take pictures, in most cases departments are making budget cuts to the firefighters.
