Question:

how do you reverse the drill on a drill press?

i have a drill press but i cant figure out how to reverse the drill after i have drilled the hole.. help

Answer:

Drill presses do not have a reverse!
sounds like you have no business operating a drill press have some one show you how to use it first drill press has no reverse
Linda, unlike portable drills, stationary drill presses normally do not have a reverse function. Portable drills have a reverse function because they are used when driving screws into materials. To remove the screw, the drill has a reverse function to accomdate this need. However, drill presses aren't used to drive screws and don't have a reverse function. Normally, after the hole is drilled using a drill press, the operator pushes the control arm upwards, while the motor is still running, and the spinning drill bit raises up out of the hole. hopes this anwers your question...good luck
1. Stand behind it. 2. Switch the wiring around to reverse polarity. 3. Move it to below the equator. 4. Pray very hard for God to change it. 5. Tell it that it is no longer politically correct to run in forward. 6. There is no reverse on a drill press.
Linda, I have to agree with all the answers... BUT I will have to ask this.Is the drill Bit locked in the material and you can't get it out?. If this is true, You will have to lower the table top, Loosen the chuck. and take the work piece and drill out and then take a vice Grip and back twist the drill to remove it. Or the more dangerous way to to but a Twist in the Belt. Be Very care full this is very dangerous and you could break a hand finger arm etc. ONLY try as a last resort. Make sure your work is secure to the table. Good Luck
