im looking for a project car and ive found an infiniti g35 coupe that has a crashed axle, how much would it be or could i even fix it myself? how much would it be if i took it to a mechanic?
Does sound a little fishy as mentioned . Thing that got me ,was he only insulated the cold water line. Hot water gives up it's heat faster than cold water that is the one that will go first in a hard freeze. Don't think it will pass inspection in NY Best regards
There are some questions to address here. I know it gets cold up there but, how cold. Will the pipes freeze. If there's that chance and, I've seen it happen, it can all add up to one gigantic mess for you. Make sure there's no chance of a freeze. Have him wrap them with freezer tape, then if the chance of freezing is there, turn it on.
Sounds to me like you got a bad install by the plumber. Why in the world did he run supply lines through the attic? Sounds very fishy to me, check with your inspector on the codes for this.

Call your local parts house and ask what the cost is for a replacement axle, be it left or right. Then call a repair shop and ask for an estimate to remove and replace the axle. You now know the cost of the axle with out the repair facility's mark up and the labour time required to perform the repair. Get two more quotes from other places and then make your decision. Myself, I am a mobile Tech that charges $80.00 per hour you can provide the part and time spent is how you would determine the cost. Average time to swap an axle is about 1 hr. Good Luck
