Question:

How to make a brake system on a small toy-car?

I have this project where I need to make a car and include a brake system. It‘d be fine if I could control the car. But here‘s the thing. The testing involves a ramp. The car is at the top of the ramp. It needs to go down and at some certain point when the ramp ends and goes into a platform, the car needs to stop.I have no idea how to do this. I thought about it a lot. A cord system, gears, etc. but none seem to work Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer:

Honda civic. I would choose the 2008 lx honda civic, or the 1996 honda civic dx. They are both pretty sturdy.
on mine, there is a brake rotor on the center differential. when the throttle is reversed, that rotor is stopped. if the differential is not locked, then you have one set of wheels going one direction and the other going the opposite. if that differential is locked, then the power through the system is just stopped adn the wheels lock up. it is an older rc car but i would assume that things have only improved.
The car will have electric motor on it.You can wire not to go to the front. Bit it can be wired to go to the rear as well. You can use the motor brake the car. The revere should be a deadman switch one stopped the motor should hold it in placed.
