i have to make a fire extinguisher for a school project, but i dont no what to use for the foam.any one help???
I have not heard of this development, but there have, for some time, been materials that absorb ultraviolet light, and emit visible light. We know them as 'high visibility' or reflective materials. And in that way they are actually able to emit more visible light then they receive. You have to think on the quantum level to understand it. When photons are absorbed by an atomic or molecular structure, the electrons go to higher energy states. The way they then emit a new photon depends on the 'downward' energy steps available to them. Commonly, they emit energy in the same sized photon they received it in. But clearly, it is possible to have materials emit lower freqeuncy visible light photons and then emitting the remaining energy in some lower frequency radiation - materials routinely do that in absorbing light and emitting heat . There is, I think, no 'law of nature' reason why the molecules could not be arranged in such a way that they would collect energy from multiple photons and emit a higher frequency light, but that seems less likely. But then, sometimes even less likely things turn out to be workable.
by absorbing and retransmitting the light but as far as I know it only works by shifting the entire band not just one colour for example the light in a Neon tube is actually ultraviolet but by coating the inside of the tube with phosphors which absorb it then phosphoresce at visible light if you find out let me know Im curious
Lets face it only a FOOL would not make every attempt possible to free themselves from the flames! Why would anyone reject a fire extinguisher if it would save their life?? Why would anyone want to burn to death in a fire if there was a way out, if there was a choice to be free from the flames?? Free gift or otherwise, if there's a way out of the flames any sensible person would take it!!
