How to Remove a Rear Axle Shaft on 1996 lincoln towncar?

Answer:

Take the wheel brakes off the axle, then open the differential cover. Have a bucket ready when you pry the differential cover off. Rotate to axle until you can see into the differential, then pull the C-clip that's holding the axle in. With all the brake hardware off, the axle shaft will just pull out of the rear end. Also, don't let the brakes hang by the brake line, find a way to hold it up above the axle.
remove brake caliper, and rotor, remove differential inspection plate, remove screw on spider gear pin, remove pin, push axle in, remove horse shoe clip, pull out axle
