Question:

How to stick fiberglass resin to wood?

I tried and found that the fiberglass resin just peels off. It might be because I put poly-eurethane down first. I bet I have to sand that all off before I try again. Here's what I was attempting to do: I've made a redwood countertop for my vanity. I want to protect the surface from water and from damage from things that might be dropped and from scratches. I figured the fiberglass resin would work nicely, but I think I got a bit ahead of myself when I put down poly-eurethane. I'm thinking I have to clean the surface then strip the poly off before trying again. It's $14 a can of resin. Not real expensive but it can be a rather expensive lesson if not done right.Do you have any advice? Any experience? I could use the help.Thanks.
