Hello all,I live in Bogota, Colombia and I just got my Ubee DVW2110 from Claro cable company. Unfortunately unless you have amazing credit here Colombia you can only order 5MB download and 1 MB upload, but I know the modem is software capped, but I am unaware the exact steps necessary to uncap it. Any information would be helpful?
With those modems, you can't. You don't have access to the firmware's guts. The ISP does.
your router/modem is not what throttles or restricts your speed, it's your ISP (internet search provider/company your getting your internet off of). they will be controlling your upload/download speeds.
Basically to reiterate what the other two people said The DL/UL speeds are controlled by codes on your cable account (cable provider/ISP). You cannot uncap it unless you have the correct codes on your account. I highly doubt that if you call your cable company and want to upgrade that they will say no although it is possible.
