Question:

I want better mpgs in my n/a truck, will a cold air intake reduce my mpgs?

I drive a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5 speed manual transmission 4.7l V8. I average around 14-16 mpgs on every tank. I have a tonneau cover and a magnaflow catback exhaust system. I want to get the best mpgs possible, I heard that an intake might actually reduce my mpgs because the engine will inject more fuel to even out the mixture. What‘s the deal? And what if I do a ram air? I want to be able to hit puddles still cause it‘s fun. I want to try out a throttle body spacer, but I have a slight suspicion that it‘s bologna. Anyone know what‘s up?

Answer:

I had cold air on a 07 Ram, 4.7L. It helped a little but the whistle was annoying. Throttle body spacer should help a little too but barely noticeable.
My dealship will give a price, not a report. That price is only good if you're buying a new car. The price is more based on how badly we want you to buy a new car than on the condition of the trade-in.
