Any Yamaha has got to be better than some motorcycle I never heard of.
There are several different types of fire extinguisher for different fires, but the main one that uses gas is a Carbon Dioxide extinguisher. These are used on electrical fires where use of water would be dangerous. Surrounding the fire with Carbon Dioxide stops it getting oxygen, without which it cannot burn. There also used to be Halon extinguishers but these were banned in the UK a couple of years ago due to the ozone damaging properties of halon gas.
