Question:

Is copper worth buying as an investement?

I know gold isn't worth buying but what about copper? Will that go up in price in years?

Answer:

Certain entities, companies and government have been buying and stockpiling copper for years. Its cost is high due to that reason, but certainly if that continues prices will continue to rise as with any commodity. So if you can buy low and sell high, you make the profit. If the world goes to hell quickly then all the copper in the world won't save you....but people have made fortunes from copper. Ever heard of the Copper King? Interesting story.
Investing in metals is as bad as stocks right now. Today copper dropped 7 cents a pound. Over the last few weeks copper has dropped more than .30 cents a pound. Even tin prices have been dropping steadily after a good climb. Investing in metals is risky. For the most part copper is directly tied to industry. There was great speculation that China would continue to grow but over the last year expectations have slowed. China is a major exporter but with bad economies, (both here and in most of Europe), their sales, and growth, is turning out to be lower than expected. It's your money so you can do what you want. I would look seriously at recent reports before investing in metals.
