My wife and I are going to be in San Francisco for 5 days around Labor day, and I don't know what part of town is a good place to be locatedWe mainly want to relax and go to good restaurants. Not worried about what we spend on a room, but want a poolAny recommendations would be appreciated.
The Hyatt has a great location, if you do stay there ask for a room with a bridge view, amazingIf you don't care so much about price, then the Fairmont or Mark Hopkins hotels are extremely well locatedThey are on or near the cable car lines, and a 10 minute leisurely walk to North Beach, Chinatown, Polk St restaurants, Union Square, Financial District, Embarcadero, etcAlso there is a Clift Hotel, a W hotel and the Palace is quite nice Also convenient is the Westin StFrancis, which is right on Union SqBe aware that due to the intensely urban environment of central SF, most hotels do not have poolsIn fact, I am hard pressed to think of any nice ones that doThe Pheonix Hotel has a pool, but its more of a bar than a hotel and not the most relaxing n'hood either.
