Question:

is the vertical chest press and benchpress basicly the same thing?

if i can do 200 lbs on vertical chest press can i do 200lbs on bench ( note. i also dont no if thats what its called but it might be its what ever machine you push foward with both arms 2

Answer:

Both work the same target muscles. The chest press does alot of the stablising for you so not as many assistant muscles are used. The bench press is a progression of the chest press. When you are able to use the chest press and maintain perfect form then you are ready to progress to the bench press. Because you need more stability when performing a bench press it will be harder and you should find that you can not lift as heavy at first. If you have not used the bench press before start light and make sure you have someone to spot you. Once you have mastered the bench press you can progress to a dumbell press and then to a single arm DB press.
