If you don't keep them in for about 2-3 months. pretty fast. So yeah they do close up. i got my cartilage pierced. took it out for about an hour and i could not put it back in to save my life. I had to get the piercing place to repierce it for me (which was VERY painful) so yeah. hope i was a good helk
I am sure that I have seen what looks like a very flexible rubber or PVC mirror but I do not know if it is designed to get hot without degrading. You could try using the reflectors out of car headlights. You could also make a reflector from cardboard and glue little square mirrors onto the cardboard. The reflector does not have to be semi-spherical, it can be a semi-cylinder.
