Question:

Ladder Bar vs Trailing Arm Suspension?

I‘m trying to understand the types of rear suspensions (especially for solid axles) and for the world cannot understand the difference between Trailing Arms and Ladder Bars, and for that matter also Traction Bars.Lastly, Torque Arms are installed when the trailing arms (or whatever suspension you have) cannot handle the large outputs of torque, right?

Answer:

Torque arms are used mostly on coil sprung 3 link suspension systems where you have only lower control (trailing) arms Factory 4 link system has upper and lower control arms Ladder bars is an aftermarket triagled system Traction bars are bolt on divise used to help increase tracion vis reducing wheel hop or causing an anti squat (lift) in the rear suspension
