Question:

Laundry: What type of vinyl flooring?

I have a painted floor over concrete. Want to put a surface down (not tiles). I have looked at peel'n'stick vinyl flooring, vinyl sheeting and have read about lino. What would be a good fix for this area? What can anyone recommend? Eventually the laundry will be rebuilt (5 yrs +)cheers

Answer:

I would go with linoleum, as the tiles don't stick to painted surfaces. Linoleum will require a laminate board underneath.
I highly recommend ALLURE Vinyl Plank Flooring if your painted floor is even enough.
If your concrete floor isn't completely smooth, any kind of vinyl will show the bumps and dips in it. If you can live with that until you rebuild the room, I'd use Trafficmaster Allure vinyl planks from Home Depot. They stick to each other but not the floor and are very easy to DIY. If you really want a smooth surface you'll have to use underlayment for any vinyl, or check at the store and see if there's anything you can use to skim coat the floor to make it smoother. Embossing leveler might work.
