Answer:

less weight more reps to burn fat and tone
Hi. Since you are a female it is very hard for you to gain muscle. It seems to be a very common misunderstanding among women that if they start to lift weight they will become very muscular. For a variety of reasons this is not the case. You can do leg presses without any worries, they are also good for your buttocks. You should also train other muscles in your body, that will increase your metabolism as well as adding to your overall health and symmetry. It does not matter how much you lift if you want to lose fat, that has with your diet to do!! Eat a well balanced diet. For about 4-6 days eat a little less than you need to maintain weight, the next 4-6 days eat enough to maintain weight and then repeat until the desired bodyweight has been reached. Stick the 12-15 rep range as that will target your red muscle cells (they can burn fat). Good luck!
You would probably gain muscle, which helps you burn more calories throughout the day. Leg presses alone won't make you lose weight though. Weight lifting in general should be combined with cardio, anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes would do the trick. When you lose fat, you lose fat from all over your body. I usually do cardio first thing in the morning, before I have eaten anything because when you exercise, you first burn carbs and then you burn fat. So when you exercise on an empty stomach, you almost automatically go into fat burning mode, not to mention you burn more calories throughout the day. Hope this helps!
