Question:

Magnetic fields and metals?

will both sides of a magnet attract a piece of copper(north and south)?, if so does this mean that both electrons and protons have the ability to detach from atoms

Answer:

No. Copper is not a magnetisable material. However, if you used a magnetic material, both would, but protons cannot detach from atoms, and are bound to it's nucleus. Electrons however are free flowing.
