Question:

Making a braking system on a wood car?

I am making a wood car that has to go down a 10 foot ramp and stop within 3 feet after the ramp ends. I need an idea for a braking system.

Answer:

In mathematics, the additive inverse, or opposite, of a number n is the number that, when added to n, yields zero. Ex. 7 + (-7) 0 but when multiplied together gives you a negative. 7 x -7 -49 AnswerC
I assume a pinewood derby style track with a guide strip down the middle. I am thinking of an upside down mouse trap. Use some thin spring steel from the wheels of a balsa wood airplane as a guide strip follower. At the end of the track the spring will release your brake. A spike for instant stops, or a pad to press against a wheel or floor.
