Question:

Max weight of tires?

In my tech class I am building a sofa vehicle. I went to canadian tire today to buy tires for it, and I found some wheelbarrow tires tha said max weight 300 lbs, does that mean that each tire is 300 lbs, so if i had 4 tires would it be 1200 lbs? or does it not change no matter how many tires there are?

Answer:

max weight 300 lbs per tire i think you would want something better if its going to be drove at any kind of speed
its three hundred pounds each for a total of 1200 lbs but remember on a moving item if you are at 1200 lbs and you pass over high spot that lifts a tire now your 1200 lbs is on 3 wheels which is 400 lbs each, cornering loads the outside wheels etc so be sure to leave yourself a decent margin, although I assume this is not meant to be a fast moving project?
Max weight shown on a tire is the weight that the tire will carry. If you put 4-300 lb capacity tires on an object that means you could carry a total of 1200 lbs on the objectIf you have dual (side-by-side) tires, you could carry double the weight.
