Question:

Missing pins in my Power supply Connectors! Issue?

I just literally unboxed my PSU about 10 minutes ago. I found out that my 24 pin ATX power connector has a missing pin. Which I heard is normal, but is that an issue since Mobo's need 24 pins? Not only that I am missing pinouts from the pci-e cables, the peripheral connectors, and thes Sata power connectors. But here is the thing, these are all the end connectors that plug into the PSU, the cables that plug into the mobo, aren't missing any. Except the 24 pin power, which is missing one.Is this an issue? should I send an RMA? I would test it, but not all my parts are ordered. Thanks, help needed.FYI, it is a Corsair HX650w. And my motherboard will most liklely be an Asus P8z77-v, if I get that one

Answer:

Your PSU has 2x 4+4 12v connector - meaning your PSU has 2 8pin EPS12V connector. Your MoBo has one 8pin EPS12V secondary connector - which you will ability by employing between the 8pin EPS12V connector from the PSU.
about the 24 pin i shall explain that motherboards dating back 1989 to 1999 may need the 24 pin this pin is now obsolete in the new motherboards its not needed anymore so the z77 wont need this pin at all if there are some pins missing there will be a good reason for it either they are obsolete or no longer in use
