How do I get my motorcycle in the bed of my pickup truck?
Get a ramp. For my 650cc dirt bike, I start the bike and stand next to it, then let the bike drive up the ramp as I guide it. After the front tire clears I can hold the front brake as I get on my knees on the tailgate, then continue forward till the rear tires is inside the truck. I only recommend riding up the ramp on the bike if the ramp is wide enough for you to put your feet down on it (like a wide 4-wheeler ramp). Otherwise, stay off the bike. When there is somebody else around I don't run the bike, I just have the second person push while I push and run the bars. Once the front tire clears the tailgate I grab the front brake, then the second person get inside the truck and pulls while I push and they take over the bike.
you cant really beat a bridgestone battleaxe touring tyre 3 layer compound made for your machine
Back your truck down into a low lying area such as a shallow ditch. Your tailgate should be about even with the ground, maybe a little higher. Then just push it into your truck. I've never done this with a bike (I know people who have) but I have done it with my lawn tractor and it works very well.
I will just throw in my vote for the ditch method. If it is a one time transport, it can be the best deal of all. If you have a truck, I might just go throw down the $20.00 and rent a trailer though. It's even easier, even safer, and you get to drop your bike off right at home.
yup we have been putting car tires on Harleys for a long time they last a long time!
