my door knob wont lock when in place?

can anyone please tell me how to fix it its a pretty old door knob and it only locks when its not in the door hinge and the side part just sticks out when i push the lock button and it doesnt go into place can anyone show me anyways to fix it or how to rig the door so its lock i really dont wanna buy a new door knob ty ;D

Well when I was younger we found some Fire Extigusher, built a fire in the woods and put them on it. Now if you do this you have to run because they WILL explode. A stupid thing to do now I'd say but when your 15 it was a great hoot. Alternatively an Oil Drum can be used, but not only do you have to run, but you have to run FAST.

Some (e.g. expensive CO2 types) can be recharged, but others are disposable. Most modern fire extinguishers do not contain toxic chemicals, just CO2, baking soda or ammonium phosphate (though I've seen VERY dangerous antiques that used carbon tetrachloride), so treat empty extinguishers as scrap metal. Be sure the extinguisher is empty before disposal. As was mentioned, some fire departments can recycle or at least properly dispose of old ones.
