I bought some HMDI cables for my laptop and when I hook it up to my Plasma TV it won't output the sound. Does anyone know how to do it from settings on the laptop? My laptop is a year old ASUS from Best Buy. The Geek Squad says I can do it manually from my laptop but I don't know how.Can I please get step by step instructions. Thanks everyone.
first make sure your cable can output audio. some older hdmi cables dont. second, go to control panel then hardware and sounds then click on sound it should bring up a menu that shows your audio devices. disable whatever your using currently (so my computer says Speakers, Realtek High Definition Audio) by right clicking on it and then enable HDMI (my computer says ATI HDMI Output), again right click on it and click enable. this is how its done on windows 7.
