Question:

My overflow tube in my toilet broke?

Is it supposed to come off easy? Do I buy a new one a long with a flapper? My toilet is constantly running and water is flowing into the bowl.

Answer:

turn off valve under toilet clockwise until repaired!
yes, you can purchase the complete flushvalve at any plumbing supply place.(lowes, home depot etc....) very inexpensive, these now come with a complete rebuild kit or you have the option to buy parts seperate. try the brand fluidmaster, comes complete. you will need to remove the tank and reassemble with a new tank to bowl gasket and bolts - best luck
you have to remove the tank to replace it.WHICH SOMETIMES IS NOT EASY. you can still use the toilet if you do this. stick a rag or something in the open overflow hole. let the water fill the tank. then using the water shut off valve below the toilet turn the water off when the tank is full. do that untill you get it repaired.
