I just brought a brand new PS3 Super Slim! (My first ps3) and I've been trying to add content to it via my memory card reader using a 2GB SD card! When I plug the reader in nothing shows up on the XMB!! The USB chord connecting to the reader works fine because I can charge the PS3 controller!! The card reader works fine as well because I recently pluged it in to my computer to format it as FAT32 please help!! Thanks!
Some card readers are only compatible with the PC. There's no easy way to know. There's nothing you can do about this, so you're better off getting a USB memory stick or external HDD.
