Well I am answering it a little late - 37 minutes late, but right away u should have used a dry towel to soak up excess polish. Then, used nail polish remover to get it out. If it was a dark color and this didn't work, you could have tried bakingsoda with water, or a good oxy clean formula ( be sure to follow directions on back carefully)
Find a really good nail polish remover and use that. If that doesn't work then use rubbing alcohol, and if that still doesn't get the stain out, then find a carpet cleaner that removes harsh stains. Good luck!
nail polish remover will just eat it up , it melts I just found this out the hard way I finally just took little scissors and cut the carpet pile down. good luck
