as far as the carseat goes, there really is no option because she is only 5 months old, but to keep her rear facing. my child was big too. his pediatrician told me i could go ahead and turn him forward facing at 11 months because he was just so long and uncomfortable. as far as the pajamas problem, there is nothing wrong with taking the pajamas in a larger size with the long legs or the footed ones and cutting them to make them shorts or rompers, she will just be at home anyways. since you have no a/c why dont you just let her sleep in her diaper and keep a blanket on her.
