First off, most hospitals keep it quiet, perhaps paging Dr Red as a little obfuscation, and announcing the location Dr Red to Pediatrics, Dr Red to Pediatrics. All of the fire doors in the hospital will close, and people in unaffected areas will be escorted to their rooms or to nearby treatment areas. Meanwhile, staff systematically evacuate patients from the location of the fire. Hospitals have specific procedures, and usually detail several staff members to use fire extinguishers or even the wall mounted fire hoses to combat the fire. If the fire spreads, of course, patients endangered by it are moved to other areas. Of course, the fire department is notified immediately upon discovery of a fire, often by pulling the alarm.
